Woodford Halse CE Primary Academy
Welcome to our website.
I am very proud to be in my second year as headteacher of Woodford Halse CE Primary Academy. It is a school filled with opportunity and this has been key to developing our vision and values. We want children to leave us ready, resilient and respectful. We want children to have grown in their faith about both themselves and the wider world and respect the planet we share.
We currently have over 240 pupils on roll, across the ages of 3 to 11. From our Nursery provision through the age ranges up to Year 6, we have 9 classes and a wonderful teaching team to support them. We have an incredible site, which is one of the largest in the county and make great use of it hosting our annual cross country, making good use of our outdoor swimming pool through the warmer months and embracing our forest school in the woods.
One of the sentences that most people pick up on in our vision is that of teaching the national curriculum but not being defined by it. Every child is different, they have their own rucksack to carry through life and along the way things are added and removed. Every school is different because a school is made by those very children. Our job is to find out what is inside those rucksacks, to add to them, develop them, increase their capacity to hold more but most importantly ensure the child carrying it knows it is theirs and how they can best use all of the tools inside it.
We welcome all children, along with those rucksacks, to our school and embrace them within our community. We are an ever evolving entity and cherish the 150 years of history we have, whilst relishing the 150 years and beyond to come.
The only way to really know us is to come and visit us. Explore our site, get a snapshot of who we are, then pick up the phone and come and see for yourself. We would love to tell you more about who we are.
Mr Ed Newton, Headteacher.
