Outdoor learning

“Outdoor Learning as a purposeful and planned experience in the outdoors. It’s a broad term that includes discovery, experimentation, learning about and connecting to the natural world, and engaging in outdoor sports and adventure activities.”

Outdoor learning is different to forest schools.  It is important for children to learn about nature, outdoor activities and the world around us.  It not only helps them understand their surroundings but also gives them the opportunities to be involved first hand.  Children will engage in curriculum linked activities in the great outdoors planned and lead by teachers throughout their lessons.  Activities are chosen on a basis to fulfil a specific learning objective; any risks are managed for the children and there is an expected outcome.
